Raft Float Tours at Ausable Chasm

Get up close and personal with the river on a family rafting tour at Ausable Chasm. The scenic float tours are an exciting and memorable experience for the entire family (30 lbs. and up)*.  Departing from the formidable Table Rock, your rafting journey begins between the towering cliffs of the Grand Flume, the narrowest and deepest section of Ausable Chasm. Your guide will show you stunning rock formations such as the Sentry Box and Broken Needle before navigating through the rapids and around the Whirlpool Basin. The tour concludes with a picturesque glide to the landing area where our guides discuss the unique history of the chasm.

Following the rafting tour, guests have several options:

  • Explore the winding Rim Trail for birds-eye views of the chasm.
  • Meander through two smaller "dry" chasms on the Dry Chasm Trails.
  • Hop aboard one of our trolleys for a quick return to the Welcome Center.

Take Multiple Tours and Save

Now you can raft or tube as many times as you like with our discounted second trip option. After guests have taken either the raft or tube ride at the regular rate we invite you to go again for just $5 per trip. That’s more than 50% off each additional adult trip!  Perfect for guests that want to raft and then tube! Offer good for day of purchase.

Avoid the Crowds...COME EARLY!

The float tours are very popular during the summer. We advise you to come early to avoid a possible wait for the optional float tour portion of your visit. Reservations are not possible, so you might wait 30 minutes or more between 12pm and 2pm. We think the experience is worth the wait, but if you don't have ample time, please arrive early.  We open at 9am, daily.

Ausable Chasm is a very dynamic environment with the unpredictable weather and the changing of the river level. This means that tours are available weather/river permitting.  While most seasons we are able to operate near 100% of days, heavy rains in the watershed can cause sudden increases in river volume that may cause cancellations or changes in river level. The higher the river level, the rougher the ride and vice versa.

In the event of severe thunderstorms, we will pause operations until the storms pass and then resume operations as soon as it is safe to do so.  We do our best to provide updates via our Facebook page, but please feel free to call us for up-to-the-minute conditions.
